Stephen Dunleavey, MA, LPCC-S

Steve comes to Renew Counseling Ministries with over 19 years of counseling experience and 6 years of pastoral experience. Over the past 19 years he has held many roles in counseling organizations, such as Executive Director of Clinical Services, Chief Operations Officer, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Director of Education, and Clinical Training Supervisor. However, his most cherished roles in life are that of husband to his wife of 26 years, Kristen, and father to his twins.

Steve's Story

In his professional role, Steve is passionate about relational leadership and integrating Biblical and theological truth with sound psychological principles to help people truly heal emotional wounds from the past and experience the abundant life and freedom that Jesus promised.

In addition to counseling, Steve has been an Adjunct Professor at Ashland Theological Seminary, training future professional and pastoral counselors, for the past 17 years and has taught courses on topics such as, Counseling Theories, Grief Counseling, Pastoral Counseling Skills, Marriage and Family Counseling, Differential Diagnosis, Group Counseling, and Trauma Resolution. Steve is also a popular speaker at marriage retreats and conferences on the topics of marriage enrichment, grief resolution, and a Christian approach to trauma recovery.

On a personal note, Steve enjoys starting each day with Jesus, caffeine, and exercise (in that order), spending time with his family and friends, losing at Pickleball (😊), and reading books on marriage, trauma recovery, spiritual formation, and leadership.
